About

Jacks are fast, silvery fish often seen cruising in open water or over reefs. In this app the group includes the Giant trevally, Bigeye trevally, and Greater amberjack.

Appearance

Most jacks reach 25 to 100 centimetres long, but the largest species, the greater amberjack, can grow to 2 metres.

Habitat

Jacks are found in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans, in open water above reefs and out in the open sea.

Behaviour

Jacks are fast, active predators that hunt in the water above reefs and in open sea.

Diet

Most jacks hunt other fish in the water column, while some dig in the sea floor to find invertebrates.
